Forge Your Legend: Building the Ultimate Nephilim in Crimson Moon
When we set out to build Crimson Moon, we knew the combat had to feel extraordinary. Not just responsive – extraordinary. The kind of combat where every strike, every dodge, every perfectly timed Weapon Art feels like a deliberate expression of the warrior you’ve chosen to become.
That vision shaped everything about how Crimson Moon‘s build system works. And with our September 1 launch on Xbox Series X|S just weeks away, we wanted to give the Xbox community a deeper look at one of our favorite things about the game: what it feels like to build your Nephilim from the ground up, hunt after hunt, until you’ve forged something truly legendary.

Every Hunt is a Chance to Become Stronger
Gildenarch is a fallen city, but it is not an empty one. Its corrupted streets, graveyards, catacombs, and infected districts are crawling with hellspawn – and they carry extraordinary things.
Weapons and armor drop throughout every hunt, and the further you push into Gildenarch’s increasingly dangerous Wards, the rarer and more powerful the items you’ll find. A brutal run deep into enemy territory might reward you with a weapon you’ve never seen before, or an armor piece with statistics that completely change how you approach combat. That discovery – opening a chest in a place you’ve never reached before and finding something that makes you rethink your entire loadout – is one of the feelings we chased hardest during development.
The randomization is intentional. No two runs yield exactly the same rewards, and that unpredictability keeps every hunt worth taking seriously.

Bring it Home. Make it Yours.
Here’s where it gets interesting.
Everything you find in the field is temporary – until you make it permanent. When you return to Sanctus Clypeus, your home base between hunts, you can purify the items you’ve collected. Purified gear is yours to keep, regardless of what happens on your next run. The best piece of armor you found three Wards deep? Purify it and it becomes a permanent part of your arsenal.
From there, the real building begins.
Crimson Moon doesn’t lock you into preset armor sets. Every piece – helm, chest, gauntlets, greaves – carries its own statistics that affect your combat capabilities in meaningful ways. Damage resistance, ability strength, stamina recovery, Weapon Art potency – these numbers matter, and mixing and matching pieces from different sets to build the exact combination you want is something we encourage entirely.
Of course, appearance matters too. Your Nephilim is your character. The armor you wear tells other players – and yourself – something about how you fight and who you are in Gildenarch. Some builds are built for raw aggression. Others prioritize endurance. Some are just built to look extraordinary while slaying demons. All of these are valid approaches, and the game supports all of them.

The Art of the Weapon Art
Weapons in Crimson Moon aren’t just stat sticks. Each weapon carries Weapon Arts – special abilities that fundamentally change how you engage with enemies. The sword that lets you close distance in a single devastating lunge plays completely differently from the blade that charges a shockwave strike. Learning which Weapon Arts suit your instincts, and which combinations of armor statistics amplify them most effectively, is the depth that keeps experienced players experimenting long after they’ve first cleared a Ward.
Angel Mode – activated by channeling your divine Nephilim power – is another layer entirely. When the fight demands everything you have, Angel Mode transforms how you move and strike. The armor you’ve built determines how effectively you can leverage that transformation.

Slay Together in 2P Co-Op
If you have a friend to bring into the hunt, build theory takes on an entirely new dimension.
Two-player co-op in Crimson Moon isn’t just about having backup. It’s about designing two Nephilim who make each other stronger. A build focused on aggressive Weapon Arts pairs naturally with a partner running higher endurance and revival support. An armor combination that amplifies Angel Mode damage works differently alongside a co-op partner who was built for crowd control.
The best co-op pairs in Crimson Moon aren’t two identical warriors. They’re two players who figured out how their builds create something neither of them could achieve alone – and then took that combination into the hardest content the game offers to find out exactly what they’re capable of.

A Gift for the Xbox Community
As a thank you to the Xbox community for your support of Crimson Moon, every Xbox player – Standard or Deluxe Edition – will receive the exclusive Hex-Knight armor set at launch.
Two Ways to Play
Crimson Moon is out now on Xbox Series X|S for $19.99. The Deluxe Edition is available for $29.99 and includes the Ceremonial Armor Set, the Axe of the Gods – a guitar-shaped axe that is exactly as metal as it sounds – and access to our upcoming Post-Launch Content Expansion. If you start with the Standard Edition you can upgrade at any time for $10.

Every piece of gear you find, purify, and build into your loadout is waiting for you on September 1.
The hunt begins soon. Start thinking about your build.
