As you may know, we’ve had massive success with the original Descenders. To this day it’s still one of our most popular games ever. The core of its success boils down to its unique formula and all the fun features you enjoy the most. We’ve been taking Descenders Next (Game Preview) in the same direction – everything you’ve enjoyed about the original, but bigger and better. Today, I’m here to share the next news for Descenders Next, alongside a big thank you to our community for their continued help and support.
Thanks to your feedback, we’ve made some great changes to Next so far and the Descenders formula is working better than ever. We’ve already brought some big community-driven updates, including bringing back the classic Career Mode, a familiar way to earn gear, further Multiplayer additions, and much more! But it turns out we weren’t quite finished adding things into our maps just yet…

We’ve been keeping a close eye on our socials and chatter with Descenders Next, and that’s given us some big inspiration with our future updates and how we want to go forward with development of the game. We wanted to prioritize bringing these changes to the game now over our initial plans — we know you’ve expressed how much you’d like to see some classic Descenders features make a return in Next.
And that brings us to the Grand Tour Update. Our Grand Tour challenges were a hit in Descenders (and still are!), and we wanted to give you the chance to experience them again in Next. In the Grand Tour Update, we’ve smashed together both the Career Mode and the Grand Tour to give you a new way to unlock Parks, Slopestyles, and Races!

This is very much an update for you the players – we want to bring back the Descenders familiarity with progression and challenges, which we know is a big thing for our community, so we think you’re all going to have a great time with this one! Once you log in after the update goes live, you can find all the locations you’ve unlocked so far from the Grand Tour menu, beat extra challenges, unlock medals and trophies, and even play the locations at dusk and at night. We’ve also included spectator mode for multiplayer, so you can sit back and enjoy the show!
We aren’t stopping there though. Since launch, we’ve seen lots of chatter in bringing back a popular mechanic from Descenders, which honestly, we think is a great feature too. If you’ve been enjoying jumping from extreme heights but not enjoying the leg-crushing landings, we’ve popped in a solution for you – Counter Pumping has made its way to Next to help you land softer on some of those harder jumps. Just give your right stick a flick with good timing, and your rider will be safe!

There’s still so much to explore with Next and we’re so glad you’re having a great time with it. Enjoy the new locations, hanging out with your friends, and some potentially softer landings! All of our big updates so far have all been led by our Descenders community, and we can’t thank you all enough for the love and constant feedback you’ve been giving us with Descenders Next (Game Preview). We’re super pleased the game is shaping to be the best it can with every update, and it’s all thanks to you. We’ve got loads more to come – we’ll see you Next time!
