Towerborne’s December Update Brings Yuletide “Grandeur” to the World

A Grand(eur) Quest of Depth and Delight

Grandeur brings a unique experience to Towerborne, offering a festive quest that not only delivers engaging gameplay but also delves into the rich backgrounds of its characters. In this questline, players assist Bumble, the Forge overseer, in rekindling his holiday spirit as he deals with homesickness during the festive season. Aces are tasked with escorting him to Aurora Ridge, a stunning new area featuring captivating light displays and culminating in the lighting of the Giant Mistle Bonfire. Along the journey, players can enhance their combat skills, earn rewards, and enjoy a narrative that intertwines meaningful character insights with dynamic gameplay.

“Bumble’s homesickness felt like a relatable and heartfelt way to anchor this update’s narrative, while tying into Towerborne’s larger themes of community and resilience,” says Alex Thomas, Towerborne‘s Narrative Writer.

Stoic, renowned for harmonizing gameplay and storytelling, presents Towerborne as a departure from the serious and somber tone of their acclaimed Banner Saga series. While Towerborne embraces a more vibrant and upbeat atmosphere, it continues the tradition of encouraging players to interact with the world and its inhabitants to uncover deeper layers of the narrative. Grandeur exemplifies this approach, offering a deeper understanding of Bumble’s background and personality while maintaining the game’s lively tone.

“Bumble’s quest in Grandeur is about the connection and the warmth that comes from sharing experiences,” adds Thomas. “With Grandeur, Towerborne is keeping its commitment to balance engaging gameplay with an ever-evolving world. Players can embark on a festive, action-packed adventure that – at the same time – reveals how NPCs like Bumble contribute to a deeper story.”

Themed Challenges & Gifts for All

During the event, Aces will encounter several themed activities, all centered around the seasonal goings on within and beyond the Belfry. You’ll need to protect travelers sent to deliver gifts, light Mistle Torches dotted around the map to spread holiday cheer, and of course, defend the Giant Mistle Bonfire from festive Gobo Bombers (wielding brass bells) and Snow Howlers intent on ruining your festival fun. And of course, It wouldn’t be the holidays without some presents, and Aces won’t be disappointed.

The 12 Days of Grandeur

There are festive gear sets and goodies to enjoy throughout the event, but players will also get to experience the “12 Days of Grandeur,” an ongoing, daily login-activated surprise. Each day offers a unique holiday-themed sticker for players to collect, adding a playful way to express festive cheer in-game by giving players something new and exciting to look forward to each day. Logging in to collect all 12 adds a layer of discovery and fun, making the event a vibrant and rewarding experience that keeps the holiday spirit alive (and also giving players ammo to benevolently troll fellow Aces).

Beyond the “12 Days of Grandeur,” the event introduces a variety of holiday-themed activities. Players can protect gift deliveries, light Mistle Torches, and face off against festive enemies like Gobo Bombers with brass bells and Snow Howlers tossing Mistle Bundles. These enhancements provide fun, action-packed challenges while staying true to Towerborne’s cooperative and combat-driven gameplay. Each activity ties seamlessly into the seasonal theme, offering engaging experiences and meaningful rewards that make Grandeur feel like a true celebration in the game.

Looking Ahead

As launch approaches, new players will benefit from the insights and passion of these early contributors. Stoic is dedicated to making Towerborne a dynamic, evolving game where the journey is as rewarding as the destination.

Today’s update also marks the largest accessibility expansion of game to date, as it’s now available in French, Italian, LATAM Spanish, Castilian Spanish, German, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Portuguese, Russian, Hungarian, Czech, Dutch, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Turkish, Japanese, Greek; with more languages to come.

Expect more details on the path to launch to come in early 2025. In the meantime, Grandeur is live – ready for you to dive into Towerborne‘s festive fun on Steam.
